Exploring the beauty of the Isle of Roy and the Atlantic Drive on the Rosguill Peninsula.

As you leave the village of Downings and you pass the Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Resort you enter the Isle of Roy and its beautiful aroma and scent of the seaweed and Mulroy Bay. This route offers novice e-bikers the comfort of an excellent and quite road to build their confidence prior to embarking on the scenery of the Atlantic Drive.

The trip out to the Isle of Roy with its rocky shoreline and spectacular views of the Harry Blaney Bridge and Mulroy Bay, the Rosapenna sand-dunes and the hills of Donegal offers a tranquil heaven of peace and quiet but for the waves the Wild Atlantic Way.

The Isle of Roy has a rich history dating back to the early 1800’s and Lord Leitrim. Today, it has a vibrant farming community, shell-fishing and tourism are the main ways of life of the islanders. The island’s unspoilt natural beauty makes it an ideal place to relax and unwind.

On your return from the Isle of Roy you enter the loop of the Atlantic Drive and its amazing scenery and viewing points of the Mulroy Bay and the Isle of Roy, the Harry Blaney Bridge connecting Carrigart and Fanad Peninsula to the east side. Further into your adventure to the west side of the Atlantic Drive you take on board the beauty of Trá na Rossan, Melmore Head, Horn Head, Tory Island and the spectacular views Muckish and Errigal mountains.

Why not refresh your body with lunch in the Singing Pub or a coffee at the Spud Doll or Fiffi’s. To end your journey, you will return to the village of Downings fully refreshed and ready for a bite to eat at Fisk, The Galley, The Downings Bay Hotel, The Beach Hotel, The Goose and Gander Pizzeria.
